3 Steps to a Stronger Immune System

This summer has been a beating with a never ending summer cold. I know that we are exposed to more germs and such because of our foster babies spending time at the CPS office, but this was some serious stuff! It started with our sweet little Cyrus, and moved through their family, mercilessly taking out Jana and her crew next, and finally my family. Over a month later and we are JUST now starting to get over this mess. It has me really thinking about the state of our immune systems. We need a serious overhaul, especially before school starts (or co op for us) and everyone starts bringing home more germs. The best defense is a good offense. If you can get your immune system purring like a kitten, you won’t need to medicate every other week because some new germ has invaded your home. I want to share a few easy ways to get your immune system prepared for what’s coming.

drink lots and lots of water. Cut back on the sugary drinks. Your bodies work hard to process that sugar and diverts a lot of energy from fending off the nasties. Plus sugar feeds the nasties. Drinking water flushes toxins out of your body and carries much needed oxygen throughout. There really is no going wrong. If you simply can’t stand the taste of plain water, add some lemon juice.

get out and get moving! Exercising helps your body create antibodies and gets your white blood cells doing what they are meant to do, fighting off the nasties!! It’s as simple as taking a walk in the evening or an early morning jog. Do some yoga! Just get your heart pumping and working for your benefit.

eat a healthy, well balanced diet. Food is our best source of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to stay healthy and fight off any germs that invade. Vitamin A is key to a healthy immune system. Eat a variety of dark leafy greens, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe and mango. These are favorites.

There are a lot of extra things you can do. Young Living has a product called Ningia Red that I simply can’t do without during the winter season. There is an enormous amount of vitamins you can take as well. I also have to suggest a good probiotic. Gut health is more important to a healthy immune system that you know. They call your gut your second brain. So take care of it!
